A huge congratulations to Ellie, who just passed her driving test at the Lichfield test centre! Her journey is the perfect example of how choosing the right car and instructor can change everything.

Ellie came to me because a persistent knee injury made manual driving a painful struggle. With a corrective operation scheduled for later this month, using a clutch was no longer an option.

We switched her to Automatic/EV lessons in Rugeley to remove that physical strain. By taking the “gears” out of the equation, Ellie was able to protect her knee and focus entirely on the road – proving that physical limitations don’t have to stop your independence.

From 13 Faults to a Calm Pass

Ellie’s road to success shows that “test day blues” can be conquered with the right support:

• The First Hurdle: On her first test, nerves led to 13 driver faults and a couple of serious faults. We both knew this didn’t reflect her driving and just shows how much nerves can play a part.
• The Progress: By the second test, she was much calmer, finishing with just 4 driver faults and one serious from a unlucky decision at a roundabout.
• The Result: On her third attempt, she nailed it! A fantastic drive with only 4 driver faults and zero serious faults.

A Bittersweet Goodbye

Ellie has been an absolute pleasure to teach. While I’ll miss our great conversations, I’m so happy she has her licence before her upcoming surgery.
