Getting Started

For you to drive on the road you must hold a valid, Provisional Driving Licence and be at least 17 years old. Unless you are in reciept of the Higher Disability Living Allowance, then you can apply for your provisional licence when you are 16 years old.
The earliest you can apply for your provisional licence is 3 months before your 17th birthday, but you still have to wait until your birthday before you can take your theory test.
Follow this link to apply online for your licence: www.gov.uk/apply-first-provisional-driving-licence
Or you can apply bu post by completing a D1 application form from the Post Office.
You will need to provide evidence of your identity with original documents: https://www.gov.uk/id-for-driving-licence
Before you begin the process of learning to drive you need to make sure that your eyesight meets certain requirements.
You must be able to read (with glasses or contact lenses, if necessary) a car number plate made after 1 September 2001 from 20 metres.
You can obtain further information regarding your eyesight  online at  www.gov.uk/driving-eyesight-rules
I will require a check code from you to allow me to check your licence and your eligibility to drive.
Go to: https://www.gov.uk/view-driving-licence
You will need your Driving Licence Number, National Insurance Number and Post Code
Click “Start Now”, enter your driving licence number (number 5 on your photocard driving licence), your national insurance number and your postcode. Check the “I Agree” box and click “View Now”
Click the grey “Get your check code” tab across the top and click “Get a code” to generate a new check code.
Copy and paste the code exactly as it is in a message to me (it’s case sensitive) as well as your driving licence number (number 5 on your driving licence). This allows me to do a licence check before our lesson and saves some time on that first session.
My phone number is: 07555 341101
